by Kathleen Gonzalez and Gabriela Gonzalez This collaboration was a mutual inner call. Gabriela and Kathleen were having similar questions about women cycles, the relation between dreams and reality in women and how all these questions fit in our everyday life as well as in our creative lives facing constantly our personal transformation that happen day by day making art. We worked around the concepts of the relationship of our bodies and memories with the land. Coming from different parts of South America, we want to think about how and in which form we connect our life history and ceremonial rituals with the land that we now habit. We showcased and created this piece for "La Niña" Project, curated by Katherine Gailer and exhibited at No Vacancy Gallery QV in Melbourne during June 2018. It will also be part of the Latin American Festival during September, 2018. The media chosen to exhibit this 9 minute piece to the audience was video projection, because of its inmaterial qualities, where we want to state both the documentation of the action realised in a precise moment and also the transitory intangible quality of the projection itself. Inspired and paying tribute to the element water as the true energy and vital breath within the circulation of light. Water can prolong the span of life creating an immortal body. As a dancer, Kathleen uses her body creating a specific and sacred universal narrative through the performance. We see her and multiple versions of her on screen. The image transcends its own transformation through her body in a dance. It’s a Female’s origin encounter; It is the intimate relationship within the natural environment as the reflection of the myth of vital-cosmic wisdom.
